Things You'll Need:
- Earwires and round-nose pliers
- 6 Head pins and wire snips
- Beads
-
Step 1
You will need 3 head pins per earring. Take 4 of the head pins and use the wire snips to cut them to be a bit shorter than the other 2. (The outside pins should be shorter than the middle ones.) Hold them together and snip all the way across to make sure they’re all the same length.
-
Step 2
Slide the beads onto the pins. Use whatever arrangement makes you happy. I like to put larger beads near the head of the pin, and go smaller as I get closer to the end. If the bead you want near the head has a large hole and falls off, try putting a tiny bead on first, then the larger one, to keep it from slipping off. Be sure you leave at least half an inch of pin exposed at the end.
-
Step 3
Use the round-nose pliers to make a loop at the end of each pin. This will keep the beads on and provide a way to attach to the earwire.
-
Step 4
Open the loop on the earwire by twisting gently to the side. (Do not pull it open, as you may deform it.) Slide on one short pin, one long, and one more short. Close the loop. Repeat for the other earring.
-
Step 5
You’re done! You can experiment with different length pins and different patterns of beads to get just the look you want. This is an easy and versatile pattern, and is a great project for beginners.
