Things You'll Need:
- 18 gauge wire and wire snips
- Beads that will fit on the wire
- Earwires and round-nose pliers
- Something solid and round, the size you want the hoop to be
-
Step 1
Cut a length of wire that is 2-3 inches longer than what is needed to make your hoop. (Wrap the wire around your round item so it overlaps, plus 2-3 inches.)
-
Step 2
Use your pliers to make a small loop in one end of the wire.
-
Step 3
String on your beads. Add just enough to make the loop. (Hold the wire against the round item, and keep adding beads until they will go all the way around and meet.) Be sure you slide the hoop on and off the end of the round item to maintain the shape, don’t straighten the wire back out.
-
Step 4
Use the pliers to make another small loop where the beads end. Snip the excess off.
-
Step 5
Gently open the bottom loop on the earwires using the pliers. You should twist to the side, not spread it open. Slide on both loops of the beaded wire. Close the loop again with the pliers.
-
Step 6
Enjoy wearing your new beaded earrings! It may take a little time to learn how to keep the beads from rattling around, and get the looped ends onto the earwire. Once you get the hang of it, these are fun and easy to make, and have lots of possibilities.
