How to Make Glass Beaded Hoop Earrings

Making your own jewelry can be a rewarding activity. It can also save you money because homemade earrings are typically less expensive than those purchased from a store. When you make your own earrings, you can also make them in the perfect colors to fit your wardrobe. Once you get the hang of it, these earrings are fun and easy to make, and have a lot of possibilities.

Things You'll Need

• 18-gauge wire
• Wire snips
• Beads that will fit on the wire
• Earwires
• Round-nose pliers
• Something solid and round, the size you want the hoop to be

Instructions

1. Cut a length of wire that is 2 to 3 inches longer than what is needed to make your hoop. Wrap the wire around your round item so it overlaps, plus 2 to 3 inches.

2. Use your pliers to make a small loop in one end of the wire.

3. String on your beads. Add just enough to make the loop. Hold the wire against the round item, and keep adding beads until they will go all the way around and meet. Be sure to slide the hoop on and off the end of the round item to maintain the shape, don't straighten the wire back out.

4. Use the pliers to make another small loop where the beads end. Snip off the excess.

5. Open the bottom loop on the earwires gently using the pliers. Twist it to the side; do not spread it open. Slide on both loops of the beaded wire. Close the loop again with the pliers to finish the earrings.
