- Advantage flea drops for cats and dogs

Step 1
To start, I found out that the best treatment for fleas is a high-quality spot treatment such as Advantage. The treatment kills fleas within the first five minutes and it doesn't just kill the fleas on your pet. The treatment actually attracts other fleas in the house that die on contact. Just treating your pets will go a long way in clearing the fleas from your house.

Step 2
To add some extra protection to your house, you may want to use Sevin powder or spray. The spray is great to use on fabrics and it does not smell incredibly toxic like many of the flea sprays do. The powder is useful when vacuuming carpet. Sprinkle it on the carpet, let it rest for around 10 minutes and then vacuum it up.

Another useful tip for vacuuming is to put a flea collar inside the vacuum bag. This will make sure than any still-living fleas or flea larvae are killed in the vacuum.
