Soothing sore nipples breastfeeding becomes a priority, at some point in time for all nursing mothers. Many prenatal books and health care providers give glowing reviews about the health benefits of breastfeeding. However, when you personally are giving breastfeeding a try it can be frustrating and painful. The reality of sore painful breasts can cause you to look for a quick solution.

Pushing through the pain with soothing creams can help. Successful breastfeeding takes determination and the proper support. Being prepared ahead of time to manage the soreness can help you breastfeed longer.

Here are a few tips to help you manage sore nipples breastfeeding.

  1. Step 1

    Prepare in advance to soothe your nipples by buying a pure lanolin product. Lanisoh is a popular brand of lanolin that can be purchased at local retailers or online.

  2. Step 2

    If pure lanolin is not available use raw unrefined coconut oil. Both of these are edible and not harmful in any way to the baby.

  3. Step 3

    If you are in the first few weeks of breastfeeding, keep practicing your latch on. If the latch on is incorrect immediately break the suction with your pinky, to avoid unnecessary pain.
