Step 1
Dry Socket is a complication that can happen after you have a tooth pulled. Usually a blood clot forms over the area where the tooth was located. Sometimes the clot either gets knocked off or sucked off, leaving the area without any protection. If this happens, increased pain and delayed healing are the results.

If you are in pain take an ibuprofen. For intense pain, you may need to call your dentist, as he/she can prescribe a sedative or pain killer.

Step 3
Gently rinse the inflamed area and place a sedative dressing to the area, which you can get from your dentist.

Apply a dressing soaked in clove oil, which is a natural analgesic.

Step 5
To Avoid Getting Dry Socket:
- Do not drink through a straw for the first three days of recovery.
- Do not rinse your mouth more than your dentist recommends. When you do rinse, do it gently.
- Avoid cigarettes, cigars and other tobacco products for the first 24-48 hours.
- Prevent food from hitting the extraction site - Chew on the other side of your mouth.
- After 24 hours, gently rinse with warm salt water.
