How to Do Hand Painted Nail Art

Add a unique design to your nails, doing your own nail art at home. Hand painting designs takes little practice, and inexpensive supplies. Follow these instructions to complete this easy look that will work on fingernails and toenails!

Things You'll Need:

• Nail Polish
• Acrylic Craft Paint
• Paintbrush
• Clear Nail Polish

1. 

   Pick a base coat of nail polish that you like, or one that will be a neutral base for a design. Neutral colors like white, beige, or a light color will help emphasize nail art, without overwhelming the design.
   
   Paint all nails with one coat of polish. Let dry completely before moving on to step 2.

2. 

   Bring out the acrylic craft paint and a round brush. Dip the tip of the brush in the paint and begin painting your design on the nail. Dots, swirls, hearts, stars, and flowers are easy to paint.

3. 

   Add a second color to add more detail to your nail art. Choose a third color or use one of the second colors to add even more detail such as the center of a flower, or small swirls.

4. After the paint is dry, finish up your nails with a clear topcoat, to seal the paint and make the art waterproof. To remove, use a nail polish remover as usual.

Tips & Warnings

• Sparkles and glitter can also be added, before painting on the clear top coat.
