Due to your busy life, every now and then, there comes a time when you are not able to sit at a home or office computer to check those important emails. The wonderful news is that you no longer have to wait until you get home or back to the office to read them. As long as you have Internet access, you can check your emails remotely, wherever you travel.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Power on your computer. Open your MS-DOS command prompt.

  2. Step 2

Type "Telnet." Hit your space bar one time. Type your mail server name. Hit the space bar again. Type "110." Hit "Enter" on your keyboard. If you are uncertain of your mail server name, contact your mail service provider to verify it.

  3. Step 3

Type your email address. Press "Enter" on your keyboard. Type the password for your email account. Hit "Enter" on your keyboard.

  4. Step 4

Type "List," and hit "Enter" on your keyboard. You will see a listing of all of the emails that you have on the server. To the left, you will see a number for the emails. The most recent emails will be located at the top.

  5. Step 5

Type "Retr," and hit your space bar one time. Type the number for the email message you would like to read. Hit "Enter" to read the message. Continue this pattern for each email you would like to read. To delete the email after you have read it, you can type "Dele" followed by the number of the message you would like to delete.

  6. Step 6

View and read your email messages remotely via your email service provider's webmail option if you do not wish to use Telnet. Contact your email service provider to determine the URL to access your email remotely.
