How to Make a Cookbook Scrapbook
Many families pass their most popular recipes down to the next generation. This is usually done by teaching them through demonstration or by writing the recipes down and giving them out. If you want to be creative when handing down your recipes, you can create a cookbook scrapbook. This makes the recipes more appealing. The book also becomes a keepsake, since it was made with your own hands.

1
Choose a scrapbook album that is 8 1/2 by 11 inches. Most of the albums are plain colors with no designs on the outside. This is fine, because you will decorate it. Buy matching pages for the album.
-
2
Write your most famous recipes down on recipe cards. You can buy recipe cards at grocery stores, department stores and sometimes dollar stores. Go through your recipes and decide which ones you want to include in the book.

3
Choose some recipes from a cooking magazine, if you want to share them with your family. You can also use the cooking magazine to cut out pictures that represent the ingredients in your own recipes. They are perfect for decorating your recipe pages.
-
4
Name your recipe book with letter stickers. You can call it "Smith Family Recipes" or "Jane's Delicious Desserts" or whatever comes to mind. Add a picture from a cooking magazine in the middle of the cover.
-
5
Group like recipes together. For example, the first third of your book could be breakfast recipes; the second third could be lunches and your third section could be dedicated to dinner recipes. You can also include sections for desserts, snacks or cake recipes.
-
6
Create your scrapbook pages. Choose a background color for your page out of some card stock sheets. Glue them onto the scrapbook page. Take a recipe card and put it up against a piece of card stock that complements the background color. Measure an extra 1/2 inch on all four sides and cut it out. Decide where you want to put the recipe card and then glue the card stock piece on first. Then, glue the recipe card in the middle of the card stock.
-
7
Use your letter stickers to identify the name of the recipe on the top of the page. Or, use gel pens and write the name of the dish.
-
8
Add pictures to the side, underneath or all around the recipe card. These pictures should either represent the dish or the ingredients used to make the it.
-
9
Add decorative stickers and then repeat the steps to make more pages. Allow the glue to dry before giving the book.

Tips & Warnings
Create your recipes and then take a picture of the finished product. Use these pictures instead of cutting some out of a magazine. Making a cookbook scrapbook is a lot of work. Don't expect to finish it all in one day. You may need a week or two to completely finish it.
