How to Get Hair Color Out of Carpet

If you've ever dripped hair dye onto a carpet, you know how difficult it is to remove even one tiny drop of dye. However, there is no need to give up or replace your carpeting. A simple mixture of vinegar, soap and water, if applied quickly, can remove even the most stubborn dye stains from your carpet.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Blot immediately with a dry towel or sponge to remove excess liquid. Do not rub or apply heavy pressure.

  2. Step 2

    Mix equal parts soap, water and distilled vinegar in a spray bottle. Shake well.

  3. Step 3

    Spray mixture directly onto the stain. Completely cover the stain with the cleaning solution.

  4. Step 4

    Leave the mixture on stain for 10 to 12 minutes. Do not allow the solution to dry on the carpet.

  5. Step 5

    Using a dry towel or sponge, blot the soaked stain until the stain is gone.

  6. Step 6

    Using a clean, wet sponge, apply water to the area to rinse away excess cleaning solution.

  7. Step 7

    Blot with a dry sponge or towel to dry the area.
