How to Open Email Attachments With PPT Extensions

Microsoft Windows PowerPoint, which uses the file extension PPT, is a program designed to help you create slide shows and presentations for business or personal use. While the software is available for a modest fee as a standalone program or part of a package, it is not as widely used for personal use as other Microsoft productivity software, such as Word. A popular use for PowerPoint is as a picture slide show that is shared with friends and relatives via email. If you don't have PowerPoint, you can still view the PPT attachment.

Instructions

    • 1

Download one of Microsoft's PowerPoint Viewer programs (2003 or 2007), available free of charge (see Resources). Both versions allow you to view PPT presentations created with PowerPoint 97 and later versions. Before choosing a version to download, make certain to compare the system requirements for each viewer to your system, as PowerPoint Viewer 2007 has slightly different operating system and RAM requirements. Also, the PowerPoint Viewer 2003 download will be unavailable after Oct.16, 2009. Depending on your computer, you may have to restart your machine after downloading the software.
