Create Invitations with Photo Paper

It isn't hard to get creative when making invitations using photo paper. Photo paper has a lustrous, glossy finish, making it a perfect canvas for stickers. At an eclectic novelty shop, you can find stickers in every category, from foamy or 3D to Disney characters to decorative metallic designs. For an animated design for a child's birthday party, you can create an invitation with foamy stickers that's relevant to the party's theme (like a Princess party).

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Photo paper
  • Printer paper
  • Decorative foamy stickers
  • Lettering stickers (foamy or otherwise)
  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • Color copies of child's photo
  1. Step 1

Fold one sheet of photo paper and one sheet of printer paper in half. This will leave a crease across the widths of the papers.

  2. Step 2

Spread a thin layer of glue on one full side of the printer paper and apply to the non-glossy side of the photo paper, firmly affixing the two sheets together. Then set aside to dry.

  3. Step 3

Begin inscribing party details, on the plain white printer paper. The inscription is usually written on the right side of the card, but you can get creative by writing on the left or both sides.

  4. Step 4

Design the front of the card to be playful and capture the eye, by firmly placing the foamy decor stickers that are related to the invitation's theme. Space and center the stickers evenly to avoid clutter. Also leave an open space to add a photo of the child.

  5. Step 5

Draw two erasable lines, one at the top margin of the card and the other at the bottom. This will help in placement of the sticker lettering.

  6. Step 6

Affix and center a photo of your child, and present your fun and creative invitations to your chosen recipients.

Tips & Warnings
  • With colored pencil, crayons or pen, you can decorate the open space on the inside of the card. This article explains how to make a child's birthday invitation; however, the same guidelines apply to any theme. For instance, if the invitation is for a wedding, the stickers and decorations can be comprised of symbols relative to a wedding, with the photo of the bride and groom-to-be in the center.
  • Because of the glossy finish of photo paper, some stickers can be repositioned. However, remove the stickers slowly, so they won't tear.
