Things You'll Need:
- TOOLS REQUIRED: Hammer or Rubber Mallet Flathead Screwdriver
-
Step 1
Turn your chair upside down. You may want to place it on a desk or on a table.
-
Step 2
Lift the five pronged base off of the pneumatic cylinder.
-
Step 3
Use your phillips head screwdriver to undo the screws on the seat mechanism. The seat
mechanism is the black metal plate located directly under the seat of your chair. -
Step 4
Strike the seat mechanism with the hammer while pulling on the cylinder. This step creates
a vibration that will break the pressure seal, which holds the cylinder to the seat mechanism.
(You may want to try striking the cylinder with the hammer or rubber mallet to the
left and to the right as if loosening a fence post from the ground.) -
Step 5
Screw on the new seat mechanism.
-
Step 6
Place the cylinder in the hole in the center of the mechanism with the plastic tab up
towards the seat. -
Step 7
Replace the five pronged base on the cylinder.
-
Step 8
Turn your chair upright and sit in it. This will allow the chair to reform to the pressure seal.
