How to Make Hot River Dip

Pool party? Lake or River trip? Pot Luck at work? Anytime is the right time for this creative and extraordinary dip. Heat is what you make of it...make it muy calente or oh so cold...you are in charge...make it work for you and your guests. Add some chopped green onion or cilantro as a hot little extra if you'd like. As you read the ingredients, you may question the likeability (is that even a word?) but in one taste, you'll know that you've got yourself one hell of a dip...enjoy!!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 small can abalone or clams
  • 1 lb hard salami
  • 1 lb cheese (1/2 lb cheddar and 1/2 lb swiss cheese)
  • 1 large red onion, chopped fine
  • 1 large bell pepper
  • 1 small can diced jalapeno peppers
  • 1 small can/jar marinated artichoke hearts dices
  • 1/2 lb sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup italian peppers
  1. Step 1

Chop all ingredients using any juices included in cans or packaging. When chopping clams/abalone, make sure to take the extra time to chop as fine as possible...these seafood items have a texture that will be unappealing if left in large pieces.

  2. Step 2

    Mix all ingredients thoroughly

  3. Step 3

If not enough liquid or more is desired, add italian salad dressing as needed

  4. Step 4

Serve with wheat thins type crackers or crusty italian bread

on 8/5/2009 Yes, the combination of clams or abalone and salami seems unusual. But, I will try your Hot River Dip. Thanks for the idea. *****
