It is time you made and ate Old Fashioned Grandma's Molasses Cookies. Here is the recipe with a few twists to try.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Gather these ingredients.
    * 2 cups all-purpose flour,
    * 2 teaspoons baking soda
    * 1/4 teaspoon salt
    * 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
    * 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    * 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
    * 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    * 1 1/4 cups butter, at room temperature, (2 1/2 sticks)
    * 1 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
    * 1 large egg
    * 1/4 cup molasses

  2. Step 2

    Combine all ingredients and beat with an electric mixer at low speed until well mixed, about 3 minutes. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until dough is firm.

  3. Step 3

    Preheat oven to 350°F.

  4. Step 4

    By rounded tablespoons, roll the chilled dough into balls, and roll each in sugar.

  5. Step 5

    Using a greased cookie sheet place 2 inches apart and bake. Bake approx 13 - 15 to minutes or until slightly firm.

  6. Step 6

    TWIST: Use 1 cup sour cream to create very soft Molasses Cookies!

  7. Step 7

    TWIST: Dip the top of the cookie dough balls into sugar. Slightly flatten with a moist spoon. Tops will be crispy.

  8. Step 8

    TWIST: Add 1 cup chocolate chips. Yummy!

  9. Step 9

    TWIST: Add 1 cup quick-cooking oats for a great tasting Oatmeal Molasses cookie!

  10. Step 10

    TWIST: Be sure to try out Grandma's Robust Molasses All Natural, Unsulphured. Robust is a less sweet product than Original. It is hardier flavored product with a darker, richer color. It has a higher iron content than Original Grandmas Molasses. Unsulphured means it contains no additives. It is organic, fat-free, and Kosher. Plus on the label you will find Gingerbread and Gingersnap Recipes!
