How to Treat H1N1 Swine Flu With Homeopathy Remedies

How to Treat H1N1 Swine Flu With Homeopathy Remediesthumbnail
Homeopathy remedies can fight the symptoms of the HIN1 flu.

Homeopathic medicine has a history spanning more than 200 years and is used widely around the world. Based on the core principle that like cures like, very dilute solutions are administered to heal the body. In the 1918 flu epidemic, the death rate of patients using homeopathic remedies for flu was slightly over 1% while patients receiving conventional medical care had a death rate of just over 28%.

While we now have effective flu vaccines, a swine flu vaccine won't be available until later in the year. Until a swine flu vaccine is made, homeopathic home remedies offer one way to fight a swine flu epidemic. Ideally, patients will seek the care of an experienced homeopathic physician as they have allopathic medical degrees and can best balance the efficacy of homeopathy and benefits of medical science with the needs of the patient.

    Instructions

      • 1

Consult with a homeopathic doctor who can properly advise patients as to which homeopathic remedies are best suited to their symptoms. However, because the flu can strike without warning and administering homeopathic remedies at the first signs of swine flu symptoms is key to their effectiveness, it would be a good idea to keep the remedies mentioned below on hand.

      • 2

Input symptoms into an online homeopathic remedy program to find the best remedy for your symptoms in the absence of access to a homeopathic physician. (See Resource section for a link). The remedy program may suggest any one of the remedies in the steps below.

      • 3

Take Oscillococcinum which is a general homeopathic flu remedy available at some drug stores and online (see Resources for link). Dosage is usually one dose at the first sign of flu symptoms and then two more doses after that, spaced six hours apart. A dose is one full tube of Oscillococcinum. Be sure to follow the directions on the package, as different manufacturers may have different dosage requirements.

Take Influenzinum which is a homeopathic remedy made from the same flu strain used in flu vaccines. If the swine flu vaccine becomes scarce or you can't get a swine flu vaccine, Influenzinum is a good alternative. Since a swine flu vaccine won't be available until Fall, don't buy Influenzinum until you're able to confirm that it is made from the swine flu virus. Influenzinum must be taken monthly during the flu season (October to March) in order to be effective. The typical dose is 3 pills each month. It can be purchased in drug stores or online (see Resources for link).

Use Aconite for mild swine flu symptoms such as a runny nose.

      • 6

Take Baptista for flu symptoms that result in listlessness, muscle soreness, and diarrhea.

      • 7

Take Arsenicum-album for flu symptoms that cause thirst, diarrhea, nausea, anxiety, and restlessness.

      • 8

Use Ipecac for flu symptoms with more severe nausea, bone pain, and a lack of thirst.

      • 9

Take Eupatorium perf for flu symptoms marked by mild gastrointestinal distress, but deep aches in the bones.

      • 10

Use Gelsemium for flu symptoms including dizziness, drowsiness, chills, and lack of thirst. Gelsemium was the primary homeopathic remedy used during the 1918 flu epidemic.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Use common sense and seek medical care in addition to any flu remedies you might be taking. Remember the swine flu and other influenza strains can be fatal, so it is important to see appropriate medical care and advice.

    • Don't take every single one of the remedies discussed above. That's not how homeopathic medicine works. Stock as many of the remedies you like, but only use the remedy that most closely matches your symptoms. Or use Influenzinum as a catch-all (except if you don't have that exact flu, it won't work).

    • Be aware that there are few to no medical studies proving efficacy of any of the homeopathic remedies listed here.
