Ensure Playground Safety
Ensure Playground Safety

It is tempting to think of outdoor play as the relaxed, carefree part of your day. And that is exactly how outdoor play should feel for your child. But outdoor play requires your vigilant attention and supervision. Unfortunately, according to the National Program for Playground Safety, 40% of playground injuries are related to inadequate supervision. Once on the playground, remind yourself of these safety essentials:

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

    Playground Safety

  1. Step 1

Before taking your child to a playground, tell them how to play safely and what you expect of them at the playground. Make sure to teach children not to push other children while on playground equipment including slides, monkey bars and similar equipment.

  2. Step 2

    Pay Attention

Move around the play yard, focusing your attention on your child and resisting the temptation to become distracted by conversations with other parents. Make sure that children are using guardrails correctly, sliding with feet first and using the swings safely.

  3. Step 3

    Observe

As you move around the play area, pay close attention to potential problems and watch for challenging behaviors. Step in immediately to prevent problems before they occur. Look out for children that are jumping off of play equipment, roughhousing or pushing each other. It's important to ensure that the play area is safe and not slippery, dangerously hot and free of standing water.

  4. Step 4

    Big Picture

Be alert to everything happening on the play yard. Work cooperatively with other parents to watch problem spots, especially hard to see areas, gates, slides, and climbing equipment. Make sure that there are not too many kids on the play area at one time. Ensure that children are moving across play equipment in the same direction. It's important to prevent children from climbing slides.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never leave children unattended on the playground.

on 8/24/2009 I've found that having the safety and rules talk in the car right before they get out is effective also.

on 8/23/2009 Let's face it, one of the most important aspects of a relationship is attraction, if a girl is not attracted to you then it severely decreases your chances of getting her to date you, the good thing is that when it comes to getting an ex girlfriend back, you already know that she is attracted to you as she was your girlfriend before. Work on building your attraction levels and it will help a lot to get her to come back to you.

on 8/23/2009 I can analyze my behavior to learn how to get back an ex. Did your ex cheat on you? Make sure it wasn't because you were overly jealous for no reason, or ignoring them constantly. The goal here is not only to figure out the problem, but to do so to make sure it doesn't happen again.
