How To Fix A Computer

How to fix your computer problems yourself. Save money and time by learning how to fix your computer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

How to fix your computer is not a hard question to answer. If your computer has been running slow lately, make sure that you have an up to date virus scanner. If its no longer working, I would suggest downloading AVG's free antivirus software. This should fix slow computer problems.

  2. Step 2

Make sure to download driver updates. Companies like to release updated drivers and not tell anyone about them. Make a list of all your computer hardware components, such as video card, hard drive, sound card, and processor and check the company's site every 6 months for new updated drivers. This should help fix computer errors.

  3. Step 3

Don't be afraid to ask for help to fix your computer problems. Many college's IT department will fix your computer free of charge. It is a great learning lesson for the students and it is FREE to you! Also, check with your family and see if anyone knows how to fix computers.

  4. Step 4

Try to never leave a computer problem unfixed. A problem will usually only worsen and cause other parts to fail. Don't let money stop you from repairing your computer. There are tons of ways for you to get a free computer fix.

  5. Step 5

Check to see if your computer is still under warranty. Most companies offer at least a 2 year warranty at the time of purchase.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask around to see if someone can fix your computer for free
  • Don't spend more fixing your computer than what it costs to buy a new one.
  • Make sure that your anti-virus software is up to date. Don't leave your computer un-protected.
