The first impression of your home is at your front door and what's behind it. Here's how to decorate your traditional home's hall foyer with style.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

The first thing you will want to do when decorating your hall foyer in your traditional home is to think about color. What color do you want to welcome your family and guests to every time they walk through your front door? Will it be bright and bold or soft and soothing?

Don't forget to coordinate the color of your front door with your foyer walls.

  2. Step 2
    Traditional Ceiling Light Fixture

Choose a lighting fixture in the foyer that will make a statement. This is the perfect opportunity to decide how formal your foyer will be. Traditional ceiling light fixtures come in a variety of styles from casual to formal and understated to bold.

Bringing in furniture will add character and purpose to your foyer. Choosing a simple picture table, antique imported table or storage bench will define the purpose of your foyer. Many home owners choose to define this space in a way that adds use to the space rather than just a place to welcome guests.

  4. Step 4

A small area rug may serve a stylish and functional purpose in your foyer. Area rugs allow your guests a place to clean off their shoes quickly before entering your home. An area rug will also add color and style to your already beautiful foyer.

Be sure to purchase an area rug that you do not mind getting dirty or wet. It is not recommended that you place an heirloom rug in this room since it is more likely to be damaged.

  5. Step 5

To avoid a sterile room, add family photos or paintings. This will add a personal touch that will warm up the space.
