Does your baby scream and flail when they get tired? Try swaddling him/her so that he/she can more easily sleep

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • receiving blanket/stretchy works best
  • a onesie or other lightweight outfit for the baby
  1. Step 1

Lay the blanket on the floor in a diamond shape.

  2. Step 2

Pull the top of the diamond down so that it makes a straight line with the sides (approximately 6 inches).

  3. Step 3

Lay the baby with his/her shoulders 1-2 inches above the fold.

  4. Step 4

Pull the baby's arms down and grab the left side of the blanket.

  5. Step 5

Wrap the blanket from the left side under the baby's left arm (on your right side).

  6. Step 6

Pull the bottom point of the blanket up over the baby's body, being careful not to go above the top of their shoulders.

  7. Step 7

Put your left hand on the baby and grab the right side of the blanket with your right hand, pull it down at a 45 degree angle to the middle of the baby's body (will look like an envelope) and put your left hand on top of it.

  8. Step 8

Pull the remaining part of the right side over the baby's body and tuck it under their back.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dress the baby according to the weather...overheating can be dangerous.
  • You can also leave the baby's feet free and only wrap their arms.
  • Do NOT cover the baby's face.
