  1. Step 1

    It is important to recycle old computers instead of throwing them away. Recycling computers is pretty easy. It does take a little effort and some time, but it is worth it. Learn the steps to recycle your computer.

  2. Step 2

    We all upgrade our computers constantly. If you are like me, you have spare computers and computer parts laying around. Don't throw them away because they contain harmful toxins that could leak into our soil. If you're old computer still works, consider donating it. Go to www.computerhope.com for more information on donating computers.

  3. Step 3

    Almost all of the major computer manufactures have computer recycling centers. Apple, Dell, HP, IBM, and Lexmark are just a few companies that offer recycling. Simply google "Apple recycling" and you can find out information on where the nearest apple computer recycling location is.

  4. Step 4

    eBay has a great recycling program. It is called the Rethink Program. It provides great information as to why you should recycle your computer. They also provide links to many reputable recycling centers in your area.

  5. Step 5

    If you are unable to locate a computer manufacture recycling center near you, contact your local recycling center in your area. Some states have begun allowing their recycling centers to start accepting computers and computer monitors.

on 10/12/2009 The last time I had to get rid of my old electronic devices I used http://www.recycleapc.com I did some research about them and It looks like they had all their certificates up to date. They also are an official Apple and Asus recyclers so it was an easy choice. They are highly trusted and have been in this business for decades. 30$ is a small price to pay to know that my carbon footprint will be smaller and my information will be safe.
