  1. Step 1

    Make sure that you donate old cell phones instead of throwing them away. Cell phones contain poisonous mercury, lead and other dangerous toxins. These toxins are absorbed into the ground when they are thrown away. Instead of throwing them away, donate your used cell phones.

  2. Step 2

    Stores such as Office Depot, Best Buy, Radio Shack, and Staples all offer recycling centers to donate old cell phones. Simply bring your old/unwanted cell phone to the store and simply place it in the recycling bin.

  3. Step 3

    The easiest way to donate old cell phones is to turn it in whenever you upgrade to a new one. However, if you do have old cell phones laying around your house that you want to donate, try Call 2 Recycle. You can enter your zip code and they will tell you where the nearest location to recycle your old cell phone is located at.

  4. Step 4

    You can also donate your old phones to The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. They will give your cell phones to victims of domestic violence so that they may call 911 for help in emergencies

  5. Step 5

    Last but certaintly not least, you can donate your old cell phone to soldiers! Donate your old cell phone to http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/. They will then turn in the cell phones in exchange for calling cards. Help our troops call home to their loved ones!
