Things You'll Need:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup hot tap water
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) yeast
- 1 to 2 teaspoons olive oil
- a medium-sized bowl
- a spoon
- a standard-sized cookie sheet
-
Step 1
Start to make pizza crust by mixing together the yeast with one cup of flour in a medium-sized bowl. You can use your hands or the spoon at this point, or you can just shake the bowl. I prefer using a combination of all three so as to ensure the yeast is properly dispersed throughout the flour.
-
Step 2
Add one cup hot tap water (about 110 degrees or so) to the yeast and flour mixture. Use the spoon to mix together vigorously so no dry flour shows.
-
Step 3
Add one cup flour to the mixture and stir vigorously with the spoon until the pizza crust dough comes away from the sides of the bowl as you stir.
-
Step 4
Add about one half cup of flour to the pizza crust dough and use the other one-half cup flour to cover your hands. Push the dough around in the bowl with floured hands. As you are kneading the pizza crust dough, make sure not to actually break any of the dough apart, as this will weaken the elasticity of the dough. You should kneed the dough for about five minutes, until it springs back lightly to the touch.
-
Step 5
Pour one to two teaspoons of olive oil onto a standard-sized cookie sheet. Carefully turn out the pizza crust dough onto the cookie sheet and spread it out to the edges. At this point you can either pre-bake the pizza crust at 400 degrees for five minutes, or you can proceed to cover the pizza crust with sauce, cheese, and toppings. You can then bake the pizza at 450 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on preferred done-ness.
