How to Copy a Web Address

Copying a Web address is one of the simplest things you'll ever do while surfing the Internet. You can do it the long way, which is amazingly short, or you can use a shortcut on the keyboard to copy Web addresses. Knowing how to copy and paste addresses will allow you to send links to your contacts without typing them out (some addresses are very lengthy) or explaining the way to get to websites that you want them to visit.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Web browser. You can either practice copying a Web address there or you can navigate to the website that has the address you want to copy.

    • 2

Click on the Web address to highlight the whole thing. If it isn't completely highlighted on the first click, click on the end of the address, hold the mouse clicker down and drag the mouse pointer to the other end of the address to highlight it.

    • 3

Right-click on the Web address and a drop-down menu will appear. Click on "Copy" to copy the Web address. A keyboard shortcut for copying is to press the "Ctrl" key and "C" simultaneously. Either way, the Web address will be copied for you to paste wherever you need it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Most times, when you want to copy any type of text or image on a computer, whether online or offline, these methods will work.
