Make a card with a garden seed theme

If a special occasion is coming up for someone who enjoys gardening, make a card for her with a garden-seed theme. The card front is decorated with a picture cut from the front of a seed packet and is embellished with the seeds that were in the packet. The inside of the card is left blank so you can write a personal note and use the card for nearly any occasion. The finished card will fit nicely inside a size A1 invitation envelope, which is 3 5/8 by 5 1/8 inches. After creating the card, tuck an unopened seed package inside for an extra-special touch.

Instructions

    • 1

Using a regular scissors, cut a 6 1/2-by-4 3/4-inch rectangle from a piece of card stock. Fold it in half to create a card with a finished size of 3 1/4 by 4 3/4 inches.

    • 2

With decorative-edge scissors, cut out the desired picture from the front of the seed packet. Dump the seeds onto a scrap of the card stock.

    • 3

Glue the seed packet picture to the front of the card.

    • 4

Draw a thin line of glue around the edge of the card for tiny seeds. Place dots of glue around the card for large seeds. Sprinkle or place seeds onto the glue. Allow to dry thoroughly.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a different look on the front of the card, cut out small pictures from several seed packets and create a collage. The glued seeds will probably not be usable. Including a packet of the seeds will give the gardener something to grow in the coming season.
