How to Install a Shockwave Player

Access the official Adobe Shockwave website. Click on the Adobe link listed in the additional resources section below. The link will redirect you to a page that will load in a pop-up window.

Choose your operating system. Click on the link that reads "Different operating system or browser?" You will be prompted to choose your operating system, browser, language and installer type. Click on the drop-down menu bars below each prompt and make your selection based on your computer's configurations. Click "Agree and Install Now" to obtain a download link that is comparable to your computer's configurations.

Click on the ActiveX control bar that will appear at the top of your browser screen. Select the "Install Add-On for All Users" option when the ActiveX dropdown menu appears. Click on the "Install" option when the Adobe Shockwave installation portal opens. You will now be redirected to the Adobe Shockwave InstallShield wizard.

Follow the necessary Adobe prompts in the InstallShield wizard to conduct the remainder of the installation process. Do not alter any of the default file locations or recommended settings. Once the installation process is complete, a confirmation window will appear. Click on the "Finish" option to conclude the installation process and close the Adobe Shockwave InstallShield wizard.

Tips & Warnings
Choose the "Full" option for Installer type when providing information on your computer's configurations prior to downloading. This is the recommended setting for Macromedia Flash players.
Close all nonessential programs when conducting the installation process. This will help your computer avoid unexpected freezes and/or response errors that could be detrimental to the completion of the installation process.
