How to Attend OSHA Classroom Safety Training

The Occupational Safety and Hazard Administration (OSHA) has training requirements for people employed in professions that may have some dangerous components. OSHA training includes both online and onsite classes for individuals and businesses interested in enrollment.

      Log on to the OSHA website and and visit their Education Center page. This is OSHA's Training Institute webpage. To find an education center in your area, click on your specific region of the map. OSHA has 10 different training regions, and when you click on a specific state or select a region, you will be redirected to a webpage that contains all locations offering courses in that area.

      Click on your preferred site and you will be redirected to the website where you can sign up to take classes. Most of these sites offer both online and onsite OSHA instruction.

      For online and on-the-job courses, register online at the OSHA website and then choose the occupation or course title you wish to purchase. This enables you to come back later and easily use the site for future enrollment in refresher courses.

      Check your computer to see if it meets the necessary system requirements to complete the course. Your computer must meet minimal requirements in order to view training videos. In addition, you must have an Internet connection. Internet requirements are listed at individual sites.

      Enroll in one of the online courses. OSHA's 30-hour training program is for supervisors, foremen and construction personnel, whereas the 10-hour training program is meant to help employees avoid workplace hazards by increasing awareness. Prices for the programs range from $140 to $400.

      Click on "Course Pricing" to get the costs for various training programs. There are bulk rate discounts for companies or organizations seeking to train two people or more. The bulk rate discount is from 5 percent to 30 percent.

      Call OSHA to sign up for their online courses. In addition, onsite training is offered for businesses that want to bring the course to the employees. Training courses are offered in both English and Spanish.
