Cut the lemon in half, squeeze out about 1/2 cup of lemon of juice and set it aside. Scrape out a few tbsp. of pulp for use later. Lemon is a natural antioxidant and antiseptic. It also absorbs excess oil.

Combine 1 tbsp. of cornmeal, 1 tbsp. of ground oats and 1 tbsp. of lemon pulp in a plastic mixing bowl. Stir to mix or place in a food processor to blend together thoroughly. The oats and cornmeal will serve as gentle exfoliants in the cleanser.

Combine 2 tbsp. of milk, 1 tbsp. of lemon juice and 1 tsp. of water, then add to the cornmeal/oats mixture. Stir to mix all the ingredients together.

Massage this natural cleanser into your skin on the face and neck, then rinse off with lukewarm water. Use it every morning and before bedtime. Avoid the eye area. The lemon in the cleanser will reduce and control oil, the milk will soften skin and the oats will exfoliate rough spots to make skin silky smooth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for a pleasant scent. If you don't have milk, you can use plain yogurt. Refrigerate the cleanser to prolong shelf life.
