In the Poser 4 figure design program, a bump map (BUM file) is a grayscale image that is applied to 3d objects so its varying shades can add three-dimensional (3d) textures. For example, a bump map can show the raised veins of an arm or the rough ridges of a rock. You create these maps by converting JPEG files in the program itself.

Run Poser to show the program window. Delete any figure so the document window is empty.

  3. Step 3
"Prop Types" subcategory of "Props" library

Click on the "Props" library to display its contents. If it is not selected, choose the "Prop Types" subcategory to display its files.

  4. Step 4

Click on the "Box" prop to select it. Then, click on the checkmark (Add Library Preset) symbol at the bottom to add the box to the document window.

  5. Step 5

Make sure that the drop-down menu at the bottom of the window shows "Box_1." From the "Render" menu, choose "Materials" to display the "Surface Materials" dialog box.

  6. Step 6

Click the "Load" button to display an "Open" dialog box. Navigate to the JPEG file you want to convert. Double-click the file to select it. A dialog box asks if you want to convert the JPEG to a BUM file.
