This article explains how to successfully add Random Access Memory (RAM) to your Macbook Pro.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • RAM
  • Small Phillips head screwdriver
  • Good eyesight
  1. Step 1

First, save all of your work. Then completely shut down your computer and unplug it from the power source.

  2. Step 2

Next, flip the computer over and remove the battery. This can be done by sliding the two clips towards the back of the computer.

  3. Step 3

After that, you must remove the hard drive and ram cover. This can be done by removing the three exposed screws that were covered with the battery in place.

  4. Step 4

Now you are ready to add the RAM. Hold the RAM at a 20 degree angle, and slide it in the slot. After you slide it in the slot, you must push down on the RAM until it clicks into place.

  5. Step 5

At last, replace the hard drive and RAM cover as well as the three screws to hold it in place. Insert your battery until it locks securely into place. That's it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be gentle with the screws. They can strip quite easily.
  • Try to avoid any static electricity.
