The caffeine in coffee grounds is the perfect perk-you-up in this easy to make body scrub! Use it to exfoliate your body, or rub it in and let it set for an invigorating body wrap.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Coffee grounds
  • Vegetable Oil based liquid soap
  1. Step 1

Obtain a large amount of coffee grounds. You can do this by asking for the used grounds at your local corner coffee shop. Many people use them for compost, and most coffee shops will have them pre-bagged and ready to go. You can also use ground coffee if you are unable to obtain used grounds from your coffee shop, but used are preferred, as they are already softened.

  2. Step 2

Using a large bowl, measure out four cups of coffee grounds and dump them into the bowl. Add one cup of vegetable based liquid soap. If you do not have a vegetable based liquid soap, vegetable oil can be substituted. Mix the two together until it forms a paste. If the mixture is too dry, add a quarter cup at a time of either liquid soap or vegetable oil until it is the proper constancy. Ideally it should be the texture of brownie batter.

  3. Step 3

Now it is ready for application. I suggest applying either in your shower or bathtub, as it can get messy. If you are using it as a scrub it can be applied and rubbed in while showering.

  4. Step 4

After use, shower as usual to rinse off the mixture. Afterwards your skin will be soft and exfoliated!

on 6/16/2009 What a great way to recycle coffee grounds, need to use a sink catch though or the plumber bill might get spendy, lol! Great idea and a must try for sure. Thanks! ~Mindee
