This is a step-by-step recipe on how to make the aunthentic Filipino dish called Pancit. It is a side dish composed of flour noodles, and your choice of vegetables and meat.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 8 oz pancit canton noodles (you can also use Chinese egg noodles)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 medium head cabbage, shredded
  • 2 carrots, shredded
  • 2 green onions, chopped into 1 inch pieces
  • AND YOUR CHOICE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • 1/2 pound skinless, boneless chicken legs, cut into bite-size pieces OR
  • 1/2 pound pork tenderloin, cut into bite-size pieces OR
  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  1. Step 1

    1. In a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat, stir fry garlic and onions in oil until onions are translucent, about 2 minutes.

  2. Step 2

    2. Add the meat of your choice and stir fry until fully-cooked. (For example, chicken or pork are no longer pink, shrimp turns from white to pinkish color.)

  3. Step 3

    3. Add the soy sauce and toss to coat the meat thoroughly and evenly.

  4. Step 4

    4. Add the veggies of your choice and cook until they are tender.

  5. Step 5

    5. Turn heat down to medium low. Add the noodles. Toss to blend noodles, veggies and meat thoroughly. Cook until your preferred noodle texture. If it looks dry, add more soy sauce or some water a Tablespoon at a time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use two hands to toss the noodles. Two spatulas work better than one.
  • Experiment with different veggies. To save time and money, store bought frozen veggies work great!
