Avoid Real Estate Rental Scams

To avoid real estate rental scams you need to know the warning signs which may not be very obvious at first. Scammers have turned to real estate rentals as a new target. This article will outline how to avoid real estate rental scams.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step is to never give anyone a dollar before you have inspected the outside as well as the inside of the rental property. Crooks will just drive by the house, claim it is theirs, then push you for money...do not ever do this.

  2. Step 2

The second step is to never wire any funds to someone. This is an easy way for crooks to get your money as wire transfers are hard to track down and there is no way to get your money back once you have sent it.

  3. Step 3

The third step is to never give any money to an owner who claims that they are unavailable to show you a property personally and will have an associate of theirs do it. Scammers will claim they have a business associate who can handle the transaction for you and will even give you fake keys to get in. Make sure you physically watch the owner of the property open the door in front of you.
