A personalized memorial candle is a wonderful way to remember those who have passed before your wedding day. They are a very inexpensive way to make your ceremony decor a bit more personal.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Glass cylinder
  • LED tealight (optional)
  • Votive candle
  • Ribbon
  • Vellum paper
  • Printer
  • Photos (optional)
  • Double sided tape
  • Super glue
  1. Step 1

Purchase or gather all of the supplies shown in the 'things you'll need section'. You'll want to have everything on hand to make things easier in the creation process.

  2. Step 2

Open up a word processing program on your computer such as MS Word or MS Publisher to begin designing your personalized memorial candle. Be sure to include something like "In Memory of" and then the person's name. A poem or quote could be added too.

  3. Step 3

Add a photo. This is entirely optional but would be neat for those who may not have met the person before they passed and will be able to see who they are and not just see a name.

  4. Step 4

Print out the design you made. Print it on regular paper first and then place it around the glass cylinder to be sure it fits the way you like. If it doesn't look right, cut off excess paper and modify the design a little bit if you need to, then make another test print. Then print out the final personalized memorial candle design on vellum paper.

  5. Step 5

Wrap the vellum paper around the glass cylinder and use double sided tape or super glue to make it stick.

  6. Step 6

Add ribbon. You can choose to add ribbon around the rim of the cylinder as well as the base or just the base itself. Use double-sided tape to adhere the ribbon to the cylinder and wrap it around and secure it with super glue. Cut off any excess ribbon.

  7. Step 7

Place an LED tealight candle or a regular votive candle inside the cylinder to illuminate the personalized memorial candle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use your imagination when it comes to personalizing the candle. Think of what that person enjoyed or maybe include the lyrics to one of their favorite songs.
  • If you use pillar candles for a personalized memorial candle, know that they will not allow the entire cylinder to be illuminated. This being the reason I suggest using tealights or votives.
