Decide on a schedule for your free printable budget sheet. If you have two incomes for example you may want to set up your budget bi weekly or according to pay periods. It may benefit you to combine everything monthly if you are self employed or a business owner.

Number your budget sheet up from top to bottom by category starting with 1.Income 2. Savings 3. Insurance 4. Home 5. Auto 6. Education 7. Entertainment 8. Personal 9. Charity/Dues and 10. Emergency

Start by listing all your sources of income including salary, bonuses, commissions, real estate, investments, or family business and list these under category #1 Income of your free printable budget sheet.

Next make a list of all your expenses and then assign each to their appropriate budget category by writing category numbers beside each item on your sheet.

Next rate each expense in terms of priority. Assign each a - fixed pay, b- need , or c- discretionary. Fixed pay expenses have to be payed the same on your budget. Needs must also be payed regularly but amounts are free to vary. Discretionary expenses are the least predictable and include items that can be cut down on or eliminated completely.

Now enter all savings, expense, and amounts free for emergency into your budget sheet under the appropriate printable category for each. List the categories by priority with must pays first, then needs, and finally discretionary.

Next at the top of your free sheet make three budget column headings. 1. Projected Budget Amount 2. Actual Budget Amount 3. Budget Difference

Then at the bottom of your printable sheet include a place for Budget Balance Totals under each of these columns.

First enter your projected amount for each income and expense item and adjust your excel number format to print in dollars and cents and choose your number of decimal places. Subtract your savings, expense, and emergency amounts from your projected income to get a balance total at the bottom of your budget sheet.

Now you can make adjustments or eliminate items on your printable budget and balance your sheet until you are satisfied with the outcome before you enter your Actual amounts for free comparison.
