Do You Promote on Twitter?
Do You Promote on Twitter?
James Dalman | L.E Duncan

If you are a writer, writing primarily internet content for websites and blogs, it is important that you promote your writing. Many internet content writers earn their pay by the amount of people that view the page their writing is on, by being interested in and reading the article.

Whether it is on eHow, other content writing sites or a personal blog, using Twitter is an efficient way to promote your work to hundreds of people. Many of the content sites such as eHow and Associated Content can “tweet” your article to all of your followers every time you publish an article, saving you even more time.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet Access
  • Twitter Account

Automatic Tweets – On eHow and Associated Content, you can have these sites automatically tweet your newly published article to all your followers.

On eHow, go to your profile page, click on “notifications” on the left-hand menu bar. In the Twitter box, check “Notify Twitter when I publish an article”. There is also a selection to notify Twitter for every comment you make on other articles.

On Associated Content, go to your account and click on the “Auto-Post” tab along the horizontal menu bar. Scroll down a bit and you will see the Twitter box. Click the “yes” radio button under “Enabled”, type in your Twitter username and password and you’re all set!

  2. Step 2

For blogs and standard websites there are two ways to promote your writing using Twitter. Firstly, you should have a button on your site that encourages people to follow you on Twitter. The other is to post a tweet for every post you make on your site, with a link back to the site article. This is a lot like having people following your blog, and people may be notified twice.

  3. Step 3
    Helium Authors can Manually Tweet

Other writing sites, such as Helium, do not have an automatic tweet for published articles. It is still worth using Twitter to promote your writing on Helium as well. A short (you know, less than 140 characters) blurb about your article with it’s title sent to all your followers may result in many more page views, or people reading your writing.
