Things You'll Need:

Step 1
Open Adobe Photoshop. Go to "File" on the top main navigation menu and select "New". Enter "300 pixels" for both the width and height of your new document. Enter "150 pixels/inch" for the resolution and make sure that "RGB Color" is selected for the color mode. Click "OK" to create your new document.

Select the "Ellipse" tool and click and drag your mouse across your document to create the elliptical shape of your icon.

Select the colors of your icon. In the "Tools" panel, select the box displaying the foreground color. Choose the main color for your icon and then click "OK." Click the box for the background color and choose a color that is a lighter shade of your original foreground color. Click "OK."

Go to the "Layers" panel. Check that your shape layer is selected, then click the "fx" blending options button at the bottom of the panel. Select "Gradient Overlay."

In the "Gradient Overlay" options menu, the blend mode should be "Normal" and opacity at "100%." In the "Gradient" drop-down menu, select the "Foreground to Background" gradient, then check the "Reverse" box. In the "Style" drop-down menu, select "Radial" and then enter "150" in the "Scale" option.

In the same "Blending Options" window, select the "Bevel and Emboss" option and click its checkbox. In the "Structure" section, enter "191" for the "Depth." Set the size to "7 pixels" and the "Soften" option should be at "4 pixels." Under the "Shading" section, enter an angle of "86" degrees, an altitude of "21" degrees, and check the "Anti-aliased" box. Select "Normal" in the "Highlight Mode" drop-down menu and enter an opacity of "71." In "Shadow Mode", enter an opacity of "0." Click the "OK" button for the "Blending Options" window.

Go to "Layer" in the main navigation menu at the top of Photoshop and select "New Layer." Select the "Text" tool. In the text tool options menu at the top, select white for your text color and the font, style, and size you wish to use for your icon text. Click the area on your circle where you want your words, and type your text.

With your text layer selected in the "Layers" panel, click the "Blending Options" button again and select "Inner Shadow." Set the blend mode opacity to "29" and set both the "Distance" and the "Size" to "1 pixel." Click "OK."
