1
Apply a base eyeshadow color on top of your eyelids. Generally, for eyeshadow colors like this, the base is a neutral color, either a white or beige. This helps the other eyeshadow colors "pop" and hold their color longer. Base shadow helps your eyeshadows with blending to look smooth and professional. A base color helps your shadows not to crease.

Apply your eyeshadow in the orange family to two-thirds of your lid, starting at the tear duct. This color can work with melon or tangerine colors, light or bright. However, unless you are very experienced using very bright colors--for instance, traffic cone orange--you may want to work with a less bold color.

Apply the coral family eyeshadow next. This color goes to the outer third of your eye, without the orange shadow. Again, you can substitute your coral color with pink or a deeper orange, but be careful to match your two colors to each other. Use your best judgment. If the pigments match before they're on your eye, it's likely they will still match on your eye.

Apply the yellow color eyeshadow above the crease line and your previously applied shadow. Start at the end of your eye and toward your nose. This helps create a fade, with the most shadow on the outside of your eyes. You'll probably want a soft yellow color unless you choose to use bold colors.

Look at your shadow and assess what's there. If there's anything you want to adjust, do this now before moving on.
