Create a Summer Progressive Dinner Party

This summer, instead of hosting another dull dinner party, create a spectacular summer progressive dinner party instead. A progressive dinner party is where the guests progress from one house to the next for a complete dinner party. You and your co-hosts can share cooking and entertaining responsibilities so there's more time to enjoy the summer sun.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose friends that are interested in a night of spontaneity and fun. The right group of people for this type of party makes all the difference for a successful event.

  2. Step 2

Find someone to host the first stop for appetizers. The host gets full say in what to serve, how to decorate and what type of beverages to serve.

  3. Step 3

Find someone nearby to host the dinner stage of the party. After the appetizers, the entire party gathers and progresses to the next house for dinner.

  4. Step 4

Host the final, desert portion of the meal. Plan and prepare a desert for the entire party at your home. Provide a fun party game and after-dinner cocktails.

Tips & Warnings
  • Limit the amount of guests at the party; consider only inviting three couples, and have each couple host a portion of the party. The key to success is pre-planning. Have your portion of the meal ready before you leave for the appetizer portion of the party. Consider a unifying theme so the courses go well together.
  • The best progressive dinner parties are held in one neighborhood, at houses that are within walking distance of each other. Don't drink and drive.
