How to Hang a Bike on the Wall
Bicycles are an economical way to commute to and from work, maneuver through city traffic, and are good exercise. Many people will store their bikes outside chained to a bike rack or a fence, but others choose to hang them inside to protect them from theft. Hanging is a viable solution to storing your bike when storage is a problem.

1
Choose the type of hanging device you want to hang your bike on. Many styles are sold and are appropriate for various situations such as hanging from the ceiling, hanging multiple bikes or hanging from a wheel.
-
2
Decide on a location for the bike to hang. Close to the floor makes hanging and removing the bike easy, but it does nothing to free space. Ceiling mounting requires great effort to hang and remove the bike. Hanging midwall gives you the ability to clean under it, ease of hanging and removing, and frees space.

Measure where your hardware will rest according to the instructions on the package, then mark where the screws will go. To ensure they are even, measure from the floor to where each screw will be placed. The measurements should be the same height for each set of screws.
-
4
Drill the holes for the screws and install the hardware. When the hardware is secured to the wall and before hanging the bike, test the rack to ensure it is safe to hang your bike. It should be tested with the same weight as your bike.

Tips & Warnings
Some bike racks do not come with anchors to secure the screws to the wall. You might need to purchase these if the rack you chose does not include them. Your rack might require you to find the studs in the wall and drill the holes into them. This would ensure the rack does not come loose from the wall.
Do not place the rack in an area that is traveled often. Regardless of the method used to hang your bike, you should monitor it regularly to ensure its safe hanging.
