Change the Browser Cache

Your browser cache is a tool that saves information while you are on the Internet. Information includes the sites that you've visited, passwords that you've saved and user names that you use. You may want to adjust your browser cache so that it saves more or less of your information as needed. You can also clear your cache in order to make more room on your computer's memory.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Internet browser. Click on "Tools" and choose "Internet Options."

    • 2

Go to "Browsing History" and click on "Settings." A new window will open with several options to choose from.

    • 3

Choose how often you want your browser to save your Internet information--every time you visit a web page, every time you open you browser, automatically or never.

    • 4

Choose how much disk space you would like your cache to use while saving information. It is recommended that the number be between 8 and 1,024 megabytes.

    • 5

Choose the folder that you'd like the information to be saved in. By default, it is saved in the Temporary Files folder, but you can change it to anything you wish by clicking "Change" and browsing until you find the folder you'd like it to save to instead.

    • 6

Choose the number of days you'd like pages to be stored in your Internet History.

    • 7

Click "Apply" and then click "OK." You have now changed your browser cache.
