How to Create Baseball Jerseys
Creating team baseball jerseys takes considerable time. Among the steps are developing the graphic concept, working out the design on paper or online, determining shirt style and sizes, and then following the entire process until the jerseys are delivered.

Creating the Jersey
-
1
Choose a local vendor or search the Internet and select a company that allows you to custom-build your design online using its online graphics files. You also will be able to upload personal pictures and designs to include on the jersey.
-
2
Develop a design concept. Unless the name of the team, its colors and logo are already established, obtain input from each player to come up with a team name and for any features such as logos or pictures. This can include personal names for the back of the jerseys and the assignment of numbers. To get started, download a jersey template from the Internet so you can outline your ideas and make changes before finalizing the design.

Select a shirt, colors and patterns such as pinstripes. Determine the style of shirt (buttons or pullover, low- or high-collar), the fabric (cotton or a blend), cut, and look (historic styles or new) and sizes. Pick the base color and the corresponding color(s) for trim (sometimes called piping), numbers and names.
-
4
Create the front of the jersey. Choose the font and size for the team name. It can be script or block print. Select the location of the name on the jersey. It can be straight across the middle of the chest, at an ascending or descending angle, or it can alternate from large type to small type and back to large.
-
5
Add artwork. It can be a picture, a drawing, a mascot or any other symbols that are usually placed on the sleeves just below shoulder level.
-
6
Create the back of the jersey. Add names and numbers. Determine the font and size for each and if they should be outlined or shadowed with another color. Names can be straight from shoulder to shoulder, or arched. The font for letters and numbers on the back can be different from that for the team name on the front. However, colors should be consistent.
-
7
Choose the process that you would like the vendor to use to add the lettering and designs to the jersey. Your options include silk-screening, which is popular for T-shirts, embroidery or a similar stitching process that is found on most jerseys, and a heat press to attach vinyl lettering. Each has advantages and disadvantages related to professional look and cost.

Figure costs. Some items are added at no extra charge. This can include adding the team name. Other items will have separate costs. This could include a third color, extra designs for sleeves and a cost per letter for each player's name. To all of this add tax and any shipping costs.
