Instructions

    • 1

Clean and seal the concrete walls of your wellhouse. One wall or two adjacent walls is sufficient, or you can decorate all the way around the wellhouse if you like. Let the sealer dry completely.

    • 2

Prime the concrete according to the manufacturer's instructions. Let it dry. Apply the green paint a third of the way up from the bottom of the wellhouse in an elongated wavy line to simulate a landscape. Paint blue from the top of the wellhouse wall to the green wavy line.

    • 3

Install sections of fencing along the painted walls. Dig post holes, place the fence posts and pour concrete around them to secure them. If you're using old pickets, you may want to tilt the posts to simulate a rickety fence. Follow the manufacturer's instruction to install your vinyl fence sections or attach the old picket sections to the posts with wood screws.

    • 4

Plant a dwarf ornamental tree like plum or Japanese maple on one corner of the wellhouse. Your local landscape supply should have a selection of dwarf trees, and they can tell you exactly how to plant and care for the variety of tree that you select.

    • 5

Plant flowers and flowering shrubs along the fence line from the ornamental tree to the edge of the decorative wellhouse wall. Azaleas, gardenias, pansies and Gerber daisies offer beautiful color from late spring to fall in most locations.

    • 6

Build a path along the front of the wellhouse fence decoration that curves in front of the tree. Excavate a 2-foot-wide section that winds the length of the painted walls. Remove the grass and any rocks or roots on the surface. Fill the path with small white landscaping rocks.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a swing in front of one wall and hang a decorative birdhouse from the top of the wellhouse rafters. Continue to decorate your lawn around the wellhouse with additional seating and yard art.

  • Wear gloves when you work with wood.
