Make the Best Bubbles

Many children and adults alike enjoy blowing bubbles using a bubble wand or other device. By making your own soap for the bubbles you can make as much or as little as you need, and experiment with different combinations.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 ounce of glycerin
  • 1 ounce of liquid dish soap

Instructions

    • 1

Find a container to hold your bubble mixture. It's best to choose one that has a lid. This will keep your bubbles fresh and make it easier to mix the solution.

    • 2

Measure three cups of water into your container. The water should be warm, but not hot.

    • 3

Add the 1 ounce of glycerin to the water. The glycerin helps increase the time the bubble lasts before it pops.

    • 4

Add the liquid dish soap. If the liquid soap sticks to the bottom of the measuring cup, add a splash of water and stir to make it easier to pour.

    • 5

Place the lid on the container and shake your bubbles for one minute to mix well. If you do not have a lid for your container, stir rapidly for one minute.

    • 6

Allow your bubble mixture to sit for at least 12 hours. Do not place your mixture in the refrigerator or it will get too thick.

Tips & Warnings

  • Experiment with different brands of liquid dish soap. Glycerin works better than other agents such as corn syrup.

  • Add just a small splash of water to help remove any liquid soap from the measuring cup. Adding too much water will make your soap mixture too watery and make it more likely that your bubbles will pop before becoming fully formed.
