How to Connect a Wireless Print Server to a Wireless Router
Using a wireless print server can be convenient for a home or office, as no wires are needed to operate your printer. Also, the location of the printer is much more flexible, because the only restriction is your wireless network's range. Setting up a wireless print server in your home or office can be done by following a few steps.
Instructions
-
-
1
Install the wireless print server's drivers on the computers in your wireless network, using the provided disk or by downloading them from the manufacturer's website.
-
2
Connect your wireless print server to a computer via an Ethernet cable for the setup process. The Ethernet cable will not be needed once the wireless connection is established.
-
-
3
Turn on the wireless print server, and insert the installation disk to set up the network connection.
-
4
Follow the on-screen prompts for the setup wizard, and tell the software to choose an IP address automatically using DHCP if you do not wish to establish a static IP address for the server.
-
5
Make sure to properly enter your WEP (or other encryption) key so that the wireless print server can access the network wirelessly. If you do not have any encryption protection for your wireless network, you should consider adding it for both privacy and security.
-
6
Unplug the Ethernet cable from the wireless print server once the network setup is complete.
-
7
Select the wireless print server on each computer as your default printer. To do this, go to Start menu ' Control Panel ' Printers and Faxes. Once there, right-click on the wireless print server and select "Set as Default Printer."
