How to Draw a High Heel
Drawing high-heel shoes is something that an illustrator needs to learn how to do for a variety of reasons. Footwear can often reveal a great deal about a character without having to lavish other details. This can be used comically by cartoon illustrators to show a person who is always dressed in high fashion even when it is impractical or uncomfortable. Whatever the reason, before you can use this type of shoe in your artwork, you must master the basics of creating this item on the page.

Draw a right triangle as the basis for both the foot and the high-heel shoe. Add a small square on the upper left side of the triangle. You will need to rough out the foot inside the shoe as well to make sure the high heel has realistic proportions.

Add the bottom of the leg with two parallel diagonal lines going into the upper left-hand corner of the shoe directly to the right of the square shape. Draw a diagonal line coming from the left side to the bottom of the shoe. Attach the heel to the left side of the shoe under the square shape. Create the heel with a line coming down from just under the left corner of the shoe to the bottom line of the triangle.

Draw a curved line inside the square shape to create the top of the heel of the shoe. Add a diagonal L shape to create the opening for the foot. Add a triangular shape to the left side of the top of the high-heel stem.

Draw a parallel line to create the border around the opening for the foot. Draw 11 short horizontal lines across the stem of the high heel. Draw a parallel line above the bottom of the shoe to create the sole of the high heel.

Erase the guidelines such as the square shape, leg and foot shapes and any overlapping guidelines. Ink the entire illustration of the high heel. Let the ink dry and carefully erase your pencil lines.

Tips & Warnings
You can color the high-heel illustration using art markers.
Be sure to let the ink dry before erasing the pencil, or the ink will smudge.
