How to Open Xl Attachments in E-mail
A file that has the extended Instrument (XI) extension is an audio sample file that usually contains either sound effects or song clips. XI files are small and easy to transfer, but most standard audio playback programs cannot open them. If you have been sent an email that contains an XI file attachment, you must download and install a separate program capable of opening the file.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't want to save the XI file to your hard drive, choose Open instead of Save when you right-click the XI attachment.
Malicious virus software can be hidden inside any type of file with a file extension. Only open email attachments from people you trust, and always make sure to scan the file with your computer's virus scanner before opening it. If the file contains a Trojan virus, the sender may not even be aware that the file is corrupt.
