How to Change the Screen Size in Windows Vista

Changing the screen size in Windows Vista is really about changing the resolution. The number of pixels that show up on your screen per square inch is the resolution. The higher the number, the more detailed the picture. However, the higher the number, the smaller the object on the screen appears to be.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to your desktop, and right-click anywhere on the background picture.

    • 2

Click on "Personalize" in the drop down window that opens.

    • 3

Click on "Display Settings" in the next window.

    • 4

Slide the indicator to the correct position for your display size in the Display Settings window. As you do this, you will notice that the size or orientation of the screen pictured in the window will change.

    • 5

Click on the "Apply" button at the bottom right. At this point, your monitor will go through some changes and display the new settings. It will also pop up a window asking you if you want to keep the new settings. If you do, just indicate that you do and your new settings will take effect. If you don't like the new settings, indicate that there. If you do nothing, your screen will change back automatically.
