Mosquito netting canopies are used in many countries and cultures. They can be used to keep mosquitoes out of a certain area, such as a bed, or they can be used as a decoration to create a cozy feel in a household. They are simple to make and require little materials.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mosquito netting, approximately 12-by-12 feet, depending on where you want the canopy, and the height of the ceiling
  • Gloves, if desired
  • Large screws hook, 2 to 3 inches long
  • Ladder
  1. Step 1

Measure the height of the ceiling and the dimensions of what you want to cover, whether it is a bed, crib, etc. Then buy the mosquito netting in the size you choose. If you are covering a bed, it should be from the ceiling to a foot above the floor and can easily drape over the sides.

  2. Step 2

Climb the ladder to find the point where you want to insert the hook to hang the mosquito net canopy. If it is over a bed, hang it directly above it in the center, so the netting canopy will distribute evenly over all the sides.

  3. Step 3

Screw the hook into the ceiling. Wear gloves if desired, as this can help provide a little more friction so you can hold onto more easily. Screw it in clockwise until it is fully inserted.

  4. Step 4

Spread the mosquito netting out on a flat surface. Find the center of the mosquito netting, and make a mark. Pick up the netting by this mark and go up the ladder to the ceiling hook. Hook the mark securely onto the ceiling hook so the hook cuts through the netting.

  5. Step 5

Drape each side of the mosquito netting canopy over the bed, crib etc. It is important the canopy is distributed equally over the sides.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add decorations to the canopy if you desire, such as butterflies, flowers, or you can use a brightly colored mosquito netting such as yellow or turquoise for an added touch of the unique.
