Things You'll Need:
- Washing machine
- Mower
- Insect Replant
- Clothing
- Soothing lotions

Step 1
First lets get one thing straight. At no point will a chigger ever in your lifetime BURROW into your skin. It just won't happen. You see chiggers are the larval form of a mite family called Trombiculidae, and they feed on partially digested skin cells, not BLOOD. You can throw out the clear nail polish to 'suffocate' the chiggers, won't do anything. First step is to avoid the places that chiggers congregate. This includes high weeds and anywhere the a little moisture. I know the describes almost every place on the planet that isn't desert.

Step 2
Next on your property you can take care of the places that chiggers are likely to be. Just take the mower and destroy all the high weeds.
-
Step 3
Also you can test for chiggers in areas so you can use a pesticide or insecticide on them. Just take a small square of cardboard and paint it black. Now take this to an area you suspect of having chiggers. Place on its edge and watch it, if the place has chiggers then they will crawl to the top of the cardboard. Spray as necessary.
-
Step 4
Don't want to do that? All right, every time you go to a chigger infected area wear clothing that will keep them off of you. Long pants, long sleeved shirt and absolutely no sandals. Also when you come back inside take everything off and wash it thoroughly in the washing machine. Also take a shower and scrub yourself thoroughly. This will dislodge the chiggers from your body and destroy them on your clothing.

Step 5
Next before you go out again get some insect replant. Anything with DEET works don't go for the all natural stuff, it just isn't as effective as our good ole friend DEET. Also you may take to wearing panty hose outside. Again this goes back to the clothing situation, if chiggers can't get through they can't bite you.
