Things You'll Need:
- A Mirror
- Photographs
- Sticky Tape
- A desire to look better
- Lotion or Oil
- Essential Oils
- Powdered Clay
-
Step 1
Take a good, honest look in the mirror and appraise the wrinkles you already have. Ignore any upwards curving wrinkles from the corners of the eyes, on the outside edges of your eyebrows, or any below your cheekbones. These are laugh lines, and they are generally perceived of as attractive. Make faces in the mirror- are your frown lines bigger than your happy lines?
-
Step 2
This step needs to be done alone, or around people who won't make fun of you- if you are single, perhaps at night, or if not, any time of day you are alone.
Take a one inch piece of tape and place it between your eyebrows. It should not be sticky enough to wax your eyebrows, but sticky enough that when you try to frown it limits it. Put two pieces of tape on the corners of your mouth the same way. Now go about your business. -
Step 3
After you've put the tape on, it will be easy to recognize when random thoughts change your expression and tug at the tape. Every time that happens, try to identify what thought caused it. You will be suprised at how often your expression changes while you are doing mundane things.
-
Step 4
When you are in situations where you cannot use the tape, such as work, you can use a finger instead of tape. Whenever you find yourself stressed, put your index finger between your eyebrows and lift. It will be impossible to frown- which will encourage you to find ways to solve whatever was making you frown to begin with.
-
Step 5
If possible, use the tape at night when you sleep. By doing this, you can discourage your face from frowning while you sleep. After a while, your face will become used to not frowning. (There is a reason people used to use 'Frownies'- little stickers to put on your face at night- years ago).
-
Step 6
If you do not have tape, you can make a paste of Clay and Olive Oil and dab that between your eyebrows and at the corners of your mouth. As it dries and afterwards, you will feel tugging if you unconsciously frown. The key is to identify when you are frowning so that you can consciously relax your face. Over time, with this method you will be able to retrain yourself from unconscious frowning.
-
Step 7
If, at the end of the day you feel stressed, give yourself a facial massage with oil or lotion. Before you go to sleep, put a cotton ball infused with a relaxing essential oil such as Lavender next to your pillow.
